Because Every Dream Deserves a Chance
Everywhere you look, you’ll find people with dreams. A mother who dreams of seeing her children educated. A young man who dreams of running his own business. A child who dreams of becoming a doctor, teacher, or engineer one day. Dreams cost nothing to have, yet the path to achieving them often costs more than many can afford.
And that’s why so many dreams are quietly abandoned.
Take education, for example. According to UNESCO, over 20 million Nigerian children are currently out of school. That’s more than the population of entire countries like the Netherlands or Zambia. These children aren’t at home because they lack ambition or ability; they’re at home because school fees are beyond their parents’ reach.
The same story plays out in business. Across Nigeria, thousands of small business owners—traders, artisans, food vendors—struggle to scale because they lack access to startup or expansion capital. The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics estimates that over 80% of small businesses fail within the first five years, not because the ideas weren’t good, but because financing and support were missing.
And then there’s food. The World Bank reports that about 40% of Nigerians live below the poverty line, surviving on less than ₦800 a day. For families in this situation, a small crisis—an illness, a job loss, even an increase in food prices—can mean going to bed hungry. Hunger doesn’t just take food off the table; it takes energy, focus, and the willpower people need to pursue their goals.
But here’s the truth: every dream deserves a chance.
A little support at the right time can completely rewrite a story. A bag of rice in the right household can keep a family nourished long enough for parents to focus on work. A small loan can transform a roadside stall into a thriving shop. A paid school fee can keep a child in class long enough to one day become a doctor, engineer, or teacher.
The beauty of it is that no one really knows how far a single dream can go. A child who stays in school today might be the leader who changes their community tomorrow. A food vendor who grows her stall might become an employer of labor. A young graduate with the right opportunity might become a global innovator.
We may not be able to solve poverty overnight, but we can make a difference in how dreams survive. Because sometimes, all it takes is a little push—a helping hand, a chance—to set greatness in motion.
And who knows? The small dream you support today might just be the big change the world is waiting for.
